Organisational experience

Recently, Tony was the consultant to a restructure of a department at Middlesex University. Some years ago, he headed four departments within London's Southwark College, including the prestigious Medical English school, which assists non-native English-speaking doctors reach registration in the UK, overall responsibility for IELTS and Cambridge examination centres, and both the academic/vocational English and English as a Foreign Language schools.

Beyond operational line management of a number of teams, he was involved in strategy, financial accountability, marketing, and bringing about culture change following incorporation. Tony has also worked in NGO media relations and public communications. He has also coached senior executives allowing significant insights into corporate business. And he has explored organisational communication, in particular as it relates to cross-culture, in some depth, as post-graduate study.

Academic credentials

With a Business Studies Degree in Information Systems and a Master of Arts Degree in Communications Management, Tony Corballis also has Trinity College Certification and a Trinity College Licentiate Diploma in Tesol. What's more, he's received over 340 hours formal public and private sector professional development in management training and communication skills development, in teaching-learning methodologies and in assessment systems.

Relevant coaching and training experience

He has eighteen years' experience in coaching, training and assessment. His main focus is executive and leadership transition training and coaching both in small and blue-chip corporations, and privately and for members of presidential and royal families in Asia and the Gulf, voice-work for presentations and professional employment interview skills (mostly for finance careers but also for IT, marketing and others), professional enhancement for conference interpreters, advanced writing, international business studies and business English, and academic English. He is also the principal professional interview communication skills coach and trainer at City CV Ltd., developing interviewees for success in the job market, and a Fellow at the China-Britain Linguists.

He has also worked extensively in writing and editing for internationally published writers, ghost-writing for international publicists, copywriting, motivational mentoring, leadership transition coaching, study skills coaching, and high-level communication skills training, largely for advanced speakers of English and bilingual leaders.

Learning strategy and materials development

Also involved in the design of the services he is in, Tony has developed extensive training courses, English for business and IT, and academic English learning materials for electronic media, including dedicated work in both private and university sectors. These interactive courses for online and blended delivery have been brought to market in universities across Australia, China, Vietnam, Thailand, and in the United Kingdom.

His second published textbook, called English for Management Studies, was published by Garnet Education for worldwide distribution. It won the 2009 English-Speaking Union Duke of Edinburgh English Language Book Award. His third publication is an e-book entitled EloquentEnglish™ and available for download.

He has lived and worked in the United Kingdom, New Zealand, the USA and Australia and speaks fluent Spanish. Contentedly self-employed, he can usually be found rushing upon motorcycle between central London universities and corporate clients and his keyboard in his Paddington home, or otherwise revitalising amid tree ferns or on a rocky coastline in Spain, New Zealand or South America.
